Approximately 500 children and adolescents have lived in Lar do Caminho since its beginning. Some of them have returned to their families, some were adopted, but a majority of them led an independent life.
Many former residents, such as Janaína and Luciano, have taken technical courses. Around 10% of them have College degrees, such as Ulisses and Jeferson, (Physical Education and Sociology respectively). Practically all of them live at its own expense. Some have formed their own families, taking good care of their spouses and children, in spite of not having a good family background. Fortunately, only a minority have had serious problems in their adult lives.
Therefore, it is very rewarding to meet former residents, whether for a small talk, or to be introduced to their families, or for any other reason.
Below a few pictures and a brief history of some former residents who lived at Lar do Caminho for most of their childhood and adolescence, studying, learning an apprentice, making friendships, exchanging affection, and assimilating appropriate values.
Sérgio Oliveira attends to the 4th semester of the Automation and Controlling Engineering course and has been working at Beiersdorf Ind. e Com. (NIVEA) for three years. Nowadays, he works at the Production Department and deals with stock planning and management. In 2009 he got an award as the employee who best incorporated the values of the company. (Sept. 2010)
Wanderley Willian G.P. Santana, 19 years old. attends to the 3rd year of the basic course at Conservatório Carlos Gomes (Musical School), besides taking English classes. He also teaches guitar at Versatium School in Itatiba. (Sept/2010)
Valdice is a speech and language therapist, and among other assignments, provides voluntary therapy to children that have been institutionalized. She comes every week to Lar do Caminho to help those children with these deficiencies. (Sept/2010)
Ulisses J.R. da Silva, graduated in Physical Education, has been working at the Production Department of Beiersdorf Ind. e Com. (NIVEA), for 2 ½ years, where is responsible for the materials input in the department. He also works as a personal trainer. (Sept/2010)
Cristian M. F. Delfino, 20 years old, attends to the 1st Semester in Business Administration at UNIP Jundiaí. He has been working for two years at Beiersdorf Ind. e Com. (NIVEA) as Manufacturing Assistant at the Production Department. (Sept/2010) |
